Practical experience.
Real problems.
Things that got done.
I’ve spent more than 20 years working across business operations, financial services, publishing, PR, marketing and project management. Along the way, I’ve dealt with everything from business restructures and office moves to financial planning, events and setting up new operations. Here are a few examples of the kind of work I can help with.
Improving operational efficiency
As businesses grow, the way things are done often grows with them. Processes can become complicated, responsibilities unclear and information difficult to find.
The challenge is often not that people are doing a bad job. It is that there isn't always a clear, consistent or efficient way of doing things across the business. What I did I looked at how things actually worked day to day, identified where processes could be clearer or more efficient and worked with the people involved to improve them. That could mean clarifying responsibilities, creating or improving procedures, introducing better ways of tracking information or simply bringing the right people together to resolve an issue. I focus on solutions that people will actually use rather than creating complicated processes for the sake of having them. The outcome The result is greater clarity, more consistent ways of working and operations that are easier for people to manage day to day.
Managing a successful office relocation
An office needed to relocate, involving people, suppliers, budgets, logistics and a significant amount of practical planning.
An office move is much more than moving desks and computers. It involves coordinating multiple suppliers and stakeholders while making sure the business can continue operating with as little disruption as possible. What I did I managed the move from planning through to completion, coordinating the different workstreams and keeping track of costs, suppliers, deadlines and practical requirements. I brought together the people involved, dealt with the detail and kept an eye on the bigger picture so that decisions could be made quickly when something changed. The outcome The office relocation was delivered with the practical, financial and stakeholder elements coordinated from beginning to end.
Supporting a complex business transition
A professional services business was restructuring its legal and operational arrangements, requiring multiple areas of the business to change simultaneously.
There were multiple moving parts to coordinate, including governance, finance, payroll, VAT, pensions, insurance, contracts and the office lease. The transition needed to happen smoothly while ensuring that the business could continue operating as normal. What I did I coordinated the operational side of the transition, working across the different areas of the business and with external advisers and suppliers. This included keeping track of the practical implications of the transfer, making sure the right information was available to the relevant people and coordinating the changes needed across finance, payroll, pensions, insurance and other business arrangements. I kept the process moving, connected the different people involved and made sure nothing important was overlooked. The outcome The business transferred successfully with continuity of operations and the necessary arrangements in place.
Securing a UKVI sponsor licence
Successfully coordinated sponsor licence applications, managing the documentation and application process through to completion.
Obtaining a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) sponsor licence requires careful preparation, supporting documentation and an understanding of the requirements. For businesses without dedicated HR or compliance teams, navigating the process can be challenging. What I did I coordinated the application process, organised the supporting documentation and ensured the necessary information was prepared and submitted in line with the requirements. I managed the details and kept the process moving forward. The outcome Multiple successful sponsor licence applications that resulted in licences being granted, helping the businesses meet an important requirement for sponsoring eligible overseas workers.
